Is Anyone Authentic Anymore?

girl with computerI’m sitting at my computer, trying to figure out what to write, upon having my final disappointment with online marketers. For the past 9 months, I have been scouring the internet for gurus and mavens of small entrepreneurial business to hang out with and have been coming up short. I’ve followed and communicated with people using Twitter and Facebook and found that so many people are willing to connect, but only with the push of a button (not for real.)

What the hell? Realizing that there are many people out there who have been fired and laid off, or are stay-at-home parents, or are lazy bastards who want to make some money quickly. These same people are telling the public that their information of 100 pages is worth $497 or they have this fabulous mastermind group put together – do you want to join in?

How many of you have received 100 pages of information that you could have gone to Borders Bookstore and bought for $22.50? Or you bought into a mastermind group in which all of the others were merely promoting their products to help you launch yours, plus you could only ask a question by email.  I know that is not what a mastermind group is.

I’m tired of having to wrestle my way through message machines and email servers to contact these people to let them know they didn’t hold up to the expectation that they marketed. One wanted women to “shine,” however, the work she put out what s**t – links didn’t work and it was a bunch of affiliate marketing all the way through the documents.  Another wants his followers to “un-learn” everything they’ve learned about marketing, but he also wants you to be authentic and have great customer service, and yet I can’t get hold of him or any so-called staff member for a week. These aren’t newbies to the business either, they’ve been doing this for years.

Now that I’ve b*tc*d enough about this, I’ve discovered a great way to make sure that you don’t get screwed. Almost all of these marketers are on Twitter and Facebook. Get their attention by sending them tweets that you need to speak to them and haven’t been able to get hold of them or one of their staff members. If they’re not answering your calls or emails, maybe they are just too busy tweeting.  Even though there’s not much room to write there, you can get a professional message out quite well (or DM them if they follow you back.) This seems to be working for quite a few people and companies.

So, buyers beware when you’re out looking for information and products from online marketers. Being smart and giving great customer service is successful.
